Music is the shorthand of emotion. - Leo Tolstoy Developing content is usually thought of as the words we write or say, but music can play a huge role as well. If you feel stuck or unmotivated, listening to an inspiring piece of music can awaken your creativity. So instead of scrolling through a social feed to get a dopamine hit, listen to a song instead. Choosing the right background music for your videos is an important way to bring out emotions in your audience. Our PathLynks team uses Artlist for all our b-roll videos, images, sound effects and music. You can sign up using my referral code here. Watch my short video on the importance of music at this link. A little inspiration:Calling Succession Fans! Continuing the theme from above, I came across a great article recently that brings together two things I love - the HBO series Succession and music. The article focus on Nicholas Britell, the composer for the show, and shares how he mixes classical music with hip hop for the soundtrack. Whenever you can mix unexpected items together, it instills a sense of surprise and wonder in your audience. Use this idea for your next piece of content or your next pitch! Here’s a link to more of his music on Spotify - enjoy! Upcoming EventsIf you nerd out over engineering and toys, or want a nostalgic trip down memory lane, you'll want to check out our LinkedIn Live show on Fri Aug 23 at 12pm CDT where I chat with Jacob Miles, former VP at Hasbro and engineer of the original Star Wars action figures. Who knows - those toys and sports cards that are still in your attic and garage - some of them may be a valuable collectible! Now I want to hear from you, Reader. . .Do you incorporate music in your content and life? Fanny 🌟 Ready to invest in executive coaching and build your LinkedIn thought leadership? Click here. |
